SPN MEMBERS EMBARK ON AWARENESS CAMPAIGNS IN OGUN STATE

The members of the SPN Ogun State Chapter on Saturday, August 18, 2018, embarked on an awareness campaign programs in Abeokuta, Ifo Local Government Area and Sango Ota – all in Ogun state.

ABEOKUTA

The SPN members included EKO, Taiwo  (public school female teacher) and Sisque ( a member of the state mining association), circulated the state leaflets titled:8 years of Ibikunle Amosun—led APC Government has led to little or no gains for the working masses of Ogun State; with a rider : SPN is the answer. The circulation of the leaflets commenced around 12pm, at Aloigi Bustop, in Obantoko, under Odeda local government area. Obantoko, a suburb in Abeokuta, is highly populated, with poor working class masses, artisans, traders and students constituting the majority of the population.

The road, a single carriage way, is a major exit route, to and fro the city of Ibadan, the Oyo state capital. It is traffic infested due to disrepair leading to almost total collapse, not minding the fact that it also connects two federal tertiary schools-Federal university of Agriculture, and Federal College of Education, Osele.

We circulated the leaflets in the adjoining streets, and we equally took the advantage of the gridlock to circulate the leaflets to the motorists, engaging in discussions with people who sorts more information about the party. The reception was generally very encouraging, though some people expressed doubts about the capacity of SPN, against the entrenched political parties, notwithstanding the party’s salutary programs. A few indicated interests to join the party, asking for our meeting days and venues, while many expressed misgivings for not accompanying the “papers” we were sharing with bank notes!

No doubts the works to promote SPN within the popular masses, regardless of the failures of other political parties is going to be arduous and onerous. But with patience and consistencies, we did succeed in ingraining SPN and its programs in the minds and hearts of the masses. Two contacts were made, and of them, a pepper seller at Oloigi bustop, has since called to find out when and where the party would be having meeting.   

          

IFO LGA AREA

On the same day, SPN members organized leafleting activities at Lambe Junction and Matogun – both rural communities in Ifo local government.  About 10 members of the party participated in this activity and about 500 copies of the leaflet was circulated. At the end of the day, 43 contacts were made. 

This has raised the possibility of opening two additional branches of the party at Matogun and Lambe junction.  At a meeting on Sunday 18 August 2018 where the activity was reviewed, members agreed to fix another date of leafleting for Saturday 25 August 2018. This would take place at Lambe inside - a new location in the community. All these activities will dovetail into a public symposium which has been fixed for Saturday 29 September 2018.  

        

SANGO OTA

Similar activities took place at Sango ota. Two members of the party circulated leaflets at Ado Odo Ota Local Government office and Sango bus stop. About five people put down their names and contacts to join the party.
