2019 Election: SPN Ifo Holds Post-Election Review

 Members Remain Undaunted

About 37 party members and leaders showed up at the first leadership meeting of the Socialist Party of Nigeria (SPN), Ifo LGA on Tuesday March 12 to review the March 9, 2019 elections in which we contested for Ogun State House of Assembly, Ifo constituency II.

3 party leaders from the national secretariat joined us to review the elections. Morale was great and we had excellent discussion on how to take the building of the party and the struggle of the working and toiling people forward. Up till now, we still have no idea of the summary of our result because INEC has refused to announce it.

All the electoral body announced on Sunday March 10 afternoon under the protection of armed soldiers was the winner who happened to be the incumbent lawmaker, Ganiyu Oyediji, who contested on the platform of Governor Amosun's APM. Except for widespread vote buying, criminal manipulation and outright rigging, there was no way this widely-hated individual could have won. He did nothing in his first term and it is certain that except mass struggles develop in the communities, his second term may even be worse.

We made a bold statement in the election and built a profile for the party as a defender of the rights and interests of the working masses. Many will certainly look towards us in the coming period especially as the reality dawns that only by mass struggles can we win concessions.
